Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the SignPlay mobile application ("App") made by Auslearn ("we", "us", or "our"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. The App

SignPlay explains real-world games that groups play together in Auslan. The App is free, has no accounts and no in-app purchases. We may add, change or remove games and features at any time.

2. Who Can Use the App

The App can be used by people of any age. Children should play with the supervision of a parent, guardian, teacher or other responsible adult, who accepts these Terms on their behalf.

3. Playing Safely

Some games involve moving around, acting things out or standing in a line. Play in a space where that is safe, and adapt or skip any game that is not suitable for your group. You are responsible for how you and your group play.

4. Auslan Content

The App describes how to play each game. It is not a course or a dictionary and does not teach specific signs. Auslan varies between regions and communities, and there is often more than one way to sign something. Treat the App's prompts as starting points, not as the only correct answer.

Please play respectfully. Auslan is the language of the Australian Deaf community, and Deaf people are participants in these games, not a theme for them.

If you want to learn Auslan in a structured way, Deaf-taught classes and contact with the Deaf community are the best place to start. Our Auslearn app can support that learning.

5. Intellectual Property

The App and its content (including game rules, prompts, illustrations, text and software) are owned by or licensed to Auslearn and are protected by Australian and international intellectual property laws. You may use the App for personal, family, community and classroom play. You may not copy, sell or redistribute the App or its content, or reverse-engineer the App, except as permitted by law.

6. Disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no promises that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for any particular group or purpose.

7. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Auslearn is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the App, or for any injury or loss arising from how a game is played.

8. App Store Terms

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, your use is also subject to that store's terms. These Terms are between you and Auslearn, not Apple or Google, and Auslearn alone is responsible for the App and its support.

9. Privacy

The App collects no personal information. See the SignPlay Privacy Policy for details.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute should first be raised with us at support@auslearn.org. If it cannot be resolved informally, it will be submitted to the courts of Queensland, Australia.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the App after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
